By donating to the Fondation Descartes, you support a cause of public interest that concerns us all: the integrity of information, the foundation of democratic debate. The Fondation Descartes is an independent European research institute that examines issues related to information and disinformation in today’s society. It produces thematic summaries, studies, and resources to promote quality information and combat information manipulation. It also collaborates with associations and stakeholders involved in the fight against disinformation. Your donation enables the Fondation Descartes to fulfill its mission and share its work with the public and decision-makers.
How is my donation used?

Your donation funds the activities of the Endowment Fund for the creation of the Fondation Descartes, which is a precursor to the future foundation recognized as being in the public interest. These activities include:

  • Conducting multidisciplinary research on issues related to information and disinformation
  • Producing thematic summaries and reviews of scientific articles on these topics
  • Disseminating the Fondation Descartes' work to the public and decision-makers
  • Organizing events, conferences, and training on information-related challenges
  • Building the endowment and budget required to establish the foundation as a recognized public-interest organization
  • Financing studies, observatories, research programs, initiatives, awareness campaigns, conferences, awards, grants, and financial support related to trust and quality in information

There are several ways to donate to the Fondation Descartes, depending on your preferences and means. You can choose to make a one-time or monthly donation via check, bank transfer, or credit card. You can also become a patron or friend of the Endowment Fund for the creation of the Fondation Descartes by contacting us through the online form.

A monthly donation is an automatic, recurring contribution made every month. You select the amount and date of your donation, and the Endowment Fund for the creation of the Fondation Descartes withdraws this amount from your bank account each month. A monthly donation allows you to provide lasting support to the Fondation Descartes and benefit from a tax advantage spread over the year. A one-time donation is an occasional, flexible contribution made only once. You choose the amount and method of payment and make your donation whenever you wish. A one-time donation lets you support the Fondation Descartes based on your wishes and possibilities while benefiting from a tax advantage the following year.
What are your tax benefits?
By donating to fund the activities of the Endowment Fund for the creation of the Fondation Descartes, you may qualify for an income tax reduction (if you are an individual) or a corporate tax reduction (if you represent a business). The Endowment Fund for the creation of the Fondation Descartes is authorized to receive donations that are eligible for these tax benefits under Articles 200 and 238 bis of the French General Tax Code. If you are an individual, you can deduct 66% of your donation amount, up to 20% of your taxable income. If you are a business, you can deduct 60% of your donation amount, up to 0.5% of your annual revenue. To claim these tax benefits, you will receive a tax receipt from the Endowment Fund for the creation of the Fondation Descartes.
