In its efforts to tackle disinformation, the Fondation Descartes joins forces with other key players in the information ecosystem.
The Descartes Foundation officially joined the DE FACTO project in April 2024, alongside AFP, the CARISM laboratory at the Université Panthéon-Assas, CLÉMI, Entre les lignes, Franceinfo, Les Surligneurs, Libération, 20 minutes, MediaConnect and XWIKI. DE FACTO is the first independent space where researchers, journalists and media and information education professionals join forces to combat misinformation. Its ambition is to promote the quality of information that is essential to our democracies, the diversity of public debate and the regulation of digital platforms. Its main aim is to raise awareness, develop critical thinking about the content circulating on the internet and social networks, and encourage the reflex to check before sharing and relaying information.
Co-created by the Descartes Foundation and the Université Panthéon-Assas, the Observatory of Information Manipulation University Chair supports the Fondation Descartes' annual conference on one of its major themes: health, climate and conflict.
