The Reuters Institute and the University of Oxford have published a survey of public opinion regarding media coverage of politics. This survey was conducted in 40 countries and included a total of over 80,000 individuals. The survey’s results show that respondents believe among other things that (1) the media should report false statements from politicians and that (2) platforms should fact-check political adverts (even if they are to become to some extent arbiters of the truth).
