Ben Nimmo est directeur de recherche chez Graphika, une société d'analyse des médias sociaux basée à New York. Il est spécialisé dans l’analyse des modèles de la désinformation en ligne et des actions d’influence à travers différentes plateformes et aires géographiques. De 2016 à 2019, il a été membre fondateur du Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab) du Conseil Atlantique, où il a étudié les interférences électorales, notamment autour des élections aux États-Unis (2016), en France et en Allemagne (2017), au Brésil et au Mexique (2018) et en Inde (2019).

Dans le cadre d’une carrière plus variée que prévisible, il a d’abord été moniteur de plongée sous-marine, écrivain voyageur, journaliste entre 2004 et 2011, y compris en tant que correspondant en charge de l’Union européenne et de l’OTAN pour l’agence de presse allemande DPA et responsable de la presse au sein de l’OTAN jusqu’en 2014. Il a ensuite travaillé pour l’Institute for Statecraft à Londres. Il est basé au Royaume-Uni
